Jeffrey Rose is the senior vice president, clinical strategy, at Hearst Health, a division of Hearst Business Media. He guides and represents the Hearst Health care guidance strategy in client and vendor partner interactions and in professional settings across the health industry. He works closely with the major companies and alliances within Hearst Health (Zynx Health, FirstDataBank, Milliman Care Guidelines, Homecare/Homebase and Map of Medicine) supporting and guiding strategic clinical and business initiatives across payer and provider communities, and among the vital domains in medical practices where clinical decision support and care quality support initiatives are paramount.
Before joining Hearst Health, he was the chief medical officer at Trizetto Corp. and VP clinical excellence, informatics, at Ascension, where he provided senior executive leadership and strategic support for informatics and quality initiatives. He also previously was the chief medical officer at Cerner Corp. and director of clinical information systems (CIS) for the Rocky Mountain division of Kaiser Permanente, where he was the co-manager of its computerized health record endeavor and won the CPRI Nicholas E. Davies Recognition Award.
Rose got his MD and fellowship training in interventional radiology from the University of Colorado Health Science Center, and maintains associate professorships there and at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is co-founder of the African Health and Hospital Foundation. He is a longtime teacher and author, including Medicine and the Information Age (1998), and he has delivered presentations worldwide on health information systems and the relationship of information technology to optimal care practices.
