Brian McDonough, MD, FAAPL, FAAFP, CPE is Adjunct Professor in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, Department/Center of Family and Community Medicine. He presently serves as Designated Institutional Official and Chairman of the Graduate Medical Education Committee for the Department of Family Medicine at St Francis Hospital. With three decades of clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient care and extensive experience in medical education, having trained over 220 Board Certified Family Physicians as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine he has served on Boards for Catholic Health East, Villanova University, Omnia Education and The College of Physicians of Philadelphia among others.

As Vice President and Chief Health Informatics Officer for Trinity Health, Dr. McDonough led the implementation of Epic’s Electronic Health Records system and spearheaded the use of telehealth in both the acute care and ambulatory setting as the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated in 2020. He has a keen interest in digital patient engagement.

Brian, a dual citizen of the United States and Ireland, has earned numerous awards including the prestigious AAFP Physician of the Year and Temple University’s Blockley-Osler Award for Bedside Teaching as voted by the students. A member of The Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame, Dr. McDonough is also the author of four books and the winner of four Emmy Awards. A regular contributor to the NBC Today Show, he was a fixture in Philadelphia television for two decades. A recipient of the Jules Bergman Award as National Medical Broadcaster of the Year, Brian has also been honored with the Walter Alvarez Award for Medical Writing and bestowed with an honorary degree from LaSalle University.

Dr. Brian McDonough has a dual role as Medical Editor for 1010 WINS (NY) and KYW (Phila). His daily reports have been heard in those cities for more than a quarter of a century. McDonough has a keen interest in employing social media as a tool to educate the public. Dr. McDonough is in demand as a speaker both nationally and internationally. He offers support to organizations navigating the varied challenges presented by the rapidly changing healthcare environment. His wealth of experience combined with proven communication skills are valuable when crucial organizational decisions are being made.
