Dr. Pelegano spent the early part of his medical career as a neonatologist at Columbia University in New York City. He eventually became the Director of Neonatology at a three hospital system in Brooklyn, New York and continued in that position for ten years. He then advanced his education by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management from Harvard University.
After graduating from Harvard, Dr. Pelegano accepted a position, with Harvard, as Director of Quality and Safety at Dubai Healthcare City in Dubai, UAE. There he headed a team of professionals who developed the quality and safety department for this large system. Subsequently he continued his career in the Middle East as Director of Healthcare for Huron Consulting Group. In that role he established the systems necessary to structure a consulting practice that eventually included the entire Gulf Region.
In 2011, he returned to the United States to become the Director of the Master’s Program in HealthCare Quality and Safety at Thomas Jefferson University, where he is today. In addition he continues to work as a consultant in international healthcare markets. Dr. Pelegano lectures throughout the USA in the healthcare quality and safety field.
