Dr. Warren Levy is a nationally recognized physician executive and expert in the leadership and management of large physician enterprises. He currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Inova Schar Heart & Vascular service line following a 25-year tenure as President and Chief Medical Officer of Virginia Heart.
During his leadership, Dr. Levy guided Virginia Heart’s growth from 18 physicians to 64 physicians and 37 advanced practitioners, establishing one of the nation’s most highly regarded cardiovascular group practices recognized for quality, culture, organizational structure, and operational efficiency. He served as interim CEO on three occasions and has received lifetime achievement awards for physician leadership.
Dr. Levy is the creator and director of the Inova Physician & APP Leadership Development Program (since 2017), one of the nation’s most established health-system-based physician leadership initiatives. He has published on the measurable organizational impact and return on investment of physician leadership development programs.
He has held numerous leadership roles locally and nationally, including hospital medical executive committees, CEO councils, the American College of Cardiology, MedAxiom advisory leadership, and academic committees. He is widely recognized for expertise in physician enterprise strategy, practice–health system alignment, physician compensation models, and leadership development.
Dr. Levy received his medical degree with honors from the George Washington University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the George Washington University Medical Center.
