Abstract

This article explores the 33-year journey of Bryan and Yolanda Becker, two physicians whose marriage has been rooted in shared values, mutual support, and a foundation of resilience built on their diverse cultural heritage and professional experiences. From their serendipitous meeting in an emergency department to the challenges of balancing demanding medical careers and raising a family, the Beckers’ story demonstrates how empathy, adaptability, and their guiding principles — “Do Not Panic” and “Will this matter in 25 years?” — have helped them build a meaningful, enduring partnership.

LEADERSHIP IS LEARNED

For over 50 years.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
