Abstract
This article highlights a woman’s journey from poverty in the Philippines to pioneering biosystems engineering and advancing global health. Guided by faith and perseverance, she overcame challenges to pursue education, develop affordable diagnostic tools for infectious diseases, and establish the Global Alliance for Rapid Diagnostics. Through innovation and service, she has dedicated her life to saving lives and addressing healthcare needs in resource-limited communities, proving that life’s purpose lies in living to make a lasting impact.
