The final day of the AAPL Fall Institute saw the wrap up of several two-day courses as well as highly relevant topics to the modern physician leader.

  • Pop Health Academy

  • Physician Wellness Academy

  • The Science of High Reliability

  • Finance - Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Building and Leading Effective Teams

  • Establishing Your Social Media Presence

  • Strategic Planning

While the need to understand and manage budgeting, forecasting, leading teams, and strategic planning are critical for physician leaders, one may not think it relevant for physicians to maintain an active social media presence. But given consumers today learn by scrolling, it probably could not be more important. Social media is definitely something that was not taught in medical school, yet it is critical for marketing and branding.

The social media course introduced care professionals to the nuances of personal branding including strategies for identifying a target audience, assessing risks and obstacles, and finding avenues for building a credible ‘brand voice’ through consistency and style.

As the Fall Institute wrapped up, attendees returned to their homes, organizations, and practices, energized with new leadership skills and strategies to share with their peers and employees.

For over 45 years.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
