Profeta, MD, a clinical instructor of emergency medicine at Indiana University and Marian University, shares his journey into medicine, his passion for emergency medicine, and his reflections on societal challenges observed through the lens of the ER. He discusses his writing career, including his essays and book, The Patient in Room 9 Says He’s God, which explore spirituality, societal issues, and the human condition. He emphasizes the importance of balancing professional identity with personal life to combat burnout in medicine and shares his insights into the evolving dynamics of patient attitudes, physician resilience, and the challenges faced by younger doctors. LEADERSHIP IS LEARNED

For over 50 years.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
