Abstract
This article explores the evolving landscape of medical practice through an interview with Dr. CHM, a distinguished physician with more than 65 years of experience. Reflecting on the art and science of medicine, Dr. CHM shares insights into changes in patient care, medical training, bureaucracy, technology, and the role of mid-level providers. He contrasts the simplicity and patient-centered focus of earlier times with the complexities of modern medicine shaped by technological advancements, government policies, and societal demands. This article highlights the need to balance progress with preserving the humanistic aspects of medicine, ensuring patients remain more than just data points in an increasingly system-driven healthcare model.
