The American Association for Physician Leadership®, the premier organization for lifelong growth, transformation and support of physicians in healthcare management, has appointed four new members to its editorial board of the Physician Leadership Journal, which is charged with creating and communicating advanced ideas and knowledge to its members and other professionals worldwide.
New board members include:
Ponon Dileep Kumar, MD, FACP, CPE: Attending physician and hospitalist, department of medicine, Port Huron Hospital, Mercy Hospital and River District Hospitals in Michigan; President, East Michigan Hospitalists PLLC
Dilip R. Patel, MD, MBA, MPH, FAAP, CPE, CPHQ, FAACPDM, FACSM: Professor and chair, department of pediatric and adolescent medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine

Delivering timely and valuable content through AAPL’s award-winning bimonthly journal, the Physician Leadership Journal, board members serve as ambassadors for the journal and as the gatekeepers of manuscripts submitted by industry peers for publication consideration. While also establishing the agenda for prioritized areas of coverage, the board’s objective is to present case studies, original reporting, practical advice and thought leadership that enables physician leaders and their organizations to better navigate the nuances of a constantly evolving healthcare industry.
The 19-member board, comprised of certified physician executives from around the world, is overseen by editor-in-chief Anthony Slonim, MD, DrPH, CPE, FAAPL. As president and CEO of Nevada-based Renown Health, Slonim is recognized for his extensive leadership experience, ground-breaking research in population health, and achievement as a physician, professor, author and fellow. For his advancement of health and healthcare at both local and national levels, he was recognized by Modern Healthcare in 2019 as one of the 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives in the nation.
