Dr. Anne VanGarsse, MD, CPE, MD, CPE, FAAP, CHCEF, is the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Community Engagement and Population Health at California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Clovis, CA, where she is also an associate professor of pediatrics and pharmacy. In prior roles, she has served as a vice chair of primary care, an assistant dean of clinical affairs, and as the Chief Health Officer for a Federally Qualified Health Center in Olathe, Kansas. She has also served as a hospital department chief and served on many hospital committees. Outside of medicine, she has served on multiples boards of directors including safety net clinics and other philanthropic organizations. Through her work in medical education and community health centers, she strove to integrate medical student education into safety net medicine, to instill a passion for improving quality and access to care in future physicians
A board-certified pediatrician by training, Dr. VanGarsse practiced in the private sector for 11 years before entering academia. She received her BS in Biology from Rockhurst University and her MD from St Louis University, where she also completed her pediatric residency.
Dr. VanGarsse additionally serves as a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, for which she served as a member of the certifying examination standard setting panel in 2017, and a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership, as well as other academic and pediatric organizations.
