Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, is the Global Chief Medical Officer at Aidoc, a clinical AI company whose technology supports patient care across more than 1,600 hospitals worldwide. He leads the company's clinical strategy and works at the intersection of frontline medicine and the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence at scale.
Dr. Ehrenfeld served as the 178th President of the American Medical Association—the first openly gay physician elected to lead the organization in its history. A board-certified anesthesiologist, he continues to practice clinically at Froedtert Hospital and holds a tenured professorship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He trained at Harvard and Massachusetts General Hospital, where he later served on the faculty.
His career bridges clinical medicine, organized medicine, public service, and military leadership. A combat veteran and Commander in the U.S. Navy, he deployed to Afghanistan as Department Head of Anesthesiology at a NATO combat surgical hospital. He has advised the U.S. Surgeon General and chairs IEC Technical Committee 62, which sets international safety standards for medical equipment.
A longtime advocate for patient safety and health equity, Dr. Ehrenfeld is also an award-winning documentary photographer. He is based in Washington, DC.
