Abstract

Innovation does not come easily to healthcare. In many cases, a device or new treatment has been presented to the medical profession but does not receive widespread acceptance until years or even decades later. This article reviews a few examples of devices or treatment options that were made available to healthcare but did not receive clinical application or early adoption for many years.
