WASHINGTON, DC – December 19, 2023 – The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) has earned Accreditation with Commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The distinction of Accreditation with Commendation is an honor which means that AAPL’s accreditation will remain active for six years.
"AAPL has been reviewed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) and awarded accreditation with commendation for six years as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Accreditation in the ACCME System seeks to assure the medical community and the public that AAPL delivers education that is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence," a statement from ACCME reads. “The ACCME System employs a rigorous process for evaluating institutions' CME programs according to standards that reflect the values of the educator community and aim to accelerate learning, inspire change, and champion improvement in healthcare. Through participation in accredited CME, clinicians and teams drive improvement in their practice and optimize the care, health, and wellness of their patients.”
“For 50 years, AAPL has been committed to achieving the highest standards of accreditation for the delivery of CME regarding physician leadership education and management training. This ACCME renewal clearly validates how AAPL portrays its own leadership within healthcare. The association’s commitment to excellence is deep and the AAPL staff are highly professional in their capabilities and ongoing focus to provide a distinctly high level of education for the AAPL constituency of life-long learners,” said Peter Angood, MD, FRCS (C), FACS, MCCM, FAAPL(Hon), president and CEO of AAPL.
“It is an honor to know that the ACCME has recognized and rewarded AAPL for our achievements over the past six years in implementing best practices in pedagogy, engagement, evaluation, and change management that focus on helping physician leaders effect better healthcare services delivery and patient outcomes,” said Joe LiVigni, Vice President, Education
