Important Message Regarding COVID-19 and our plans forward

Tampa, FL. March 10, 2020 —

In light of the recent expansion and impact of COVID-19 (coronavirus) on all our lives, and given AAPL has its Spring 2020 Conference and Annual Meeting scheduled for later this June, we wanted to update you on our evolving plans for this AAPL event:

  • First and foremost, the health and safety of all attendees, exhibitors, faculty, staff and speakers is our top priority.  We are regularly monitoring updates and recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  Per our usual practices, AAPL will continue taking all necessary and recommended precautions to ensure the health and safety of attendees at any of our meetings.
  • The Senior Leadership team and the AAPL Executive Committee of the Board recognize that several health care organizations have already cancelled scheduled events. Those events were in closer proximity to the current status of the COVID-19 situation and we respect the choices made by those organizations. Ongoing changes with COVID-19 will undoubtably continue to evolve and so our leadership groups will follow this closely.
  • With roughly 3 months outstanding, we still expect the AAPL Spring 2020 Conference and Annual Meeting to take place as planned on June 12 – 14, 2020 in Chicago @ the JW Marriott.  Curent registrations reflect interest and excitement to convene current and aspiring Physician Leaders. There are several milestones and future plans for AAPL to be celebrated during AAPL’s 45th Anniversary meeting in 2020.
  • We will continue to provide updates and recommendations regarding any potential impact to the meeting via our platform, website, social media and regular email. 

As physician leaders, we wish you only the very best as you endeavor to also lead your own organizations during this complex situation. Do not hesitate to utilize your AAPL community of peers as a resource during this period of uncertainty.
