Mark Lester, MD, MBA, CPE, FAANS, FACS, FAAPL serves as Executive Vice President and Southeast Clinical Leader for the Texas Health Resources (THR) system.
Previous roles at Texas Health Resources include interim system Chief Quality Officer and Vice President/Chief Quality Officer at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Lester also served in Ascension Health as Chief Medical Officer for St. Mary’s of Michigan Health.
He practiced as a neurosurgeon at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in Allentown, PA., where he was Chief of Neurological Surgery and Vice Chair of Operations in the Department of Surgery. Lester was Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery in the College of Medicine, Pennsylvania State University, and served on the Executive Council of the Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society.
Lester has significant experience with quality, case management, patient flow systems, academic/community hospital affiliations, and physician leadership development. He has led the creation of THR’s physician leadership development program, engaging independent and employed physicians across the system.
A graduate of Cornell University, Lester earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He received his master's degree in business administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
