About CCME"The PLI course was extremely relevant to the issues facing individual physicians and organized medical staffs on a daily basis." — Diana Voorhees, MDThe Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence (CCME) is a physician-sponsored, non-profit organization located in Cary, North Carolina. Our mission is to provide leadership, education and services to promote improvement in the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care. Since 1983, we have worked to fulfill that mission.
►We are a physician-sponsored organization with a membership of more than 3,000 actively practicing physicians and a staff of over 100 professionals. ►CCME is accredited by the North Carolina Medical Society to provide CME hours for physicians and sponsors. ►Our staff professionals have experience in areas of medicine, psychology, adult and pediatric nursing, epidemiology, statistics, economics, health information management, public health policy, physical, occupational and speech therapy and clinical social work. ►CCME is a member of the National Quality Forum, which gives us an opportunity to participate in the development and implementation of a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting. ►We have worked with three of North Carolina 's medical schools – the University of North Carolina Medical School, Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Duke University School of Medicine – on projects including osteoporosis, heart failure, colorectal cancer and diabetes. CCME has expertise in disease management models, assessment of morbidities, mortality, and patterns of care; and we have extensive clinical knowledge of evidence-based practices.
