The Physician Leadership Institute, a UNC certificate program, is specifically designed
to provide the physician leader with a broad range of core leadership competencies and tools
necessary in today's complex health care system.
Through a series of educational sessions, physicians will have an opportunity to learn new
management skills that are integral to successful clinical leadership. This program covers topics
such as:
- Strategic Leadership
- Problem Solving and Decision Making
- Change Management
- Conflict Management
- Negotiation and Consensus Building
- Quality Management
- Talent Management
The program provides a forum for physicians to get a better understanding of strategic
leadership and delivers the critical thinking and creativity tools necessary for managing in
today's ever-changing health care setting.
The UNC Kenan-Flagler faculty use a variety of formats that allow physicians to explore ideas
and apply subject matter directly to issues faced in their practice or hospital. In small groups,
participants will be expected to address and resolve management exercises and case studies
designed to challenge their thinking.
